Pisgah National Forest
Read MoreNo more watermarks. Inspired by well-known photographer @TreyRatcliff, I have decided to release all my photos in the Creative Commons domain to inspire sharing of all kinds and will no longer be watermarking my images either. I have pursued picture taking for nearly 2 years and this is really just the start of my journey, even if its just a professional hobby for the rest of my life. I sincerely enjoy when people ask to share/repost my work, are inspired by mine to create their own (either from mine or totally separate), and want to open the door to more of those opportunities. I wrote a story on my webiste that you can read via the link in my bio if you want to learn more. But basically, feel free to download my photos from my website (photos.tmahlmann.com), use them whatever you like (wallpapers, blogs, stories, etc), feel free to edit/remix/photoshop/posterize/paint/etc any of them; if you repost/share it on social media note when you have made changes to it, and last but not least, tag/@ mention/link to my website! That's all. Thanks for your continued support here on Instagram, I look forward to many more years of creating. Now for the story behind this photo, this was taken 15 minutes after sunset in Pisgah National Forest with my good friend @Craig_VG on our recent trip home from the @SpaceX #CRS9 launch, is probably top 5 favorite photos from the trip, and is definitely going in my portfolio. The blues in the mountains were incredible. @CanonUSA #EOS #7DMkII #Canon #EF 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM 107mm | 1/50 | f/8 | ISO 100
@Craig_VG and a sunset moonrise. Looking back on this past trip to Florida and back, this has to be top 5 coolest moments of the trip - watching the sun set, the moon rise, seeing the Earth's shadow rise from the horizon behind it (blue area), and seeing the "Belt of Venus" (pink bit - atmospheric phenomena caused by backscattering of reddend light from the setting/rising sun) just above it, followed by the typical sunset yellows and oranges sitting on top. Not the first time I've witnessed the phenomena, but definitely the most gorgeous, being foregrounded by the @PisgahNationalForest hills.
